Love Set Fire To Everything

Small paper cranes
and wallpaper stains
that the pictures can hardly conceal

Love letters bent
from tears that were spent
on a cruel and a shabby ideal

But love set fire
to everything
and the flames looked like
angel's wings.

We played our parts
with paper hearts
and love set fire
to everything.

I know that it's wrong
to stay here this long
haunted by all of her things

I found out too late
only fools feel safe
in a house made of jokers and kings

But love set fire
to everything
and the flames looked like
angel's wings.

We played our parts
with paper hearts
and love set fire
to everything.

I've tried to escape her
and these bits of paper
but the memories I just can't outrun

So I'll keep lighting matches
and when one of them catches
this thing will finally
be done

Love set fire
to everything
and the flames looked like
angel's wings.

We played our parts
with paper hearts
and love set fire
to everything.

without a backward glance or a second thought.

As for the person who resembles him so, ditto.
